DJ Spooky (real name Paul D. Miller) is an American electronic and experimental hip-hop musician born on September 6, 1970. His work spans the genres of electronica and dance music. DJ Spooky is known as a record player, music producer, philosopher, and writer. He took his stage name from the character The Subliminal Kid in William S. Burroughs' novel Nova Express. In addition to his musical career, he has taught music-mediated art at the European Graduate School and is the executive editor of Origin magazine. His contributions to the development of experimental music and the philosophy of art have made him a significant figure in contemporary culture.
