David Sylvian (born Дэвид Алан Бэтт ) is a British musician, vocalist, and songwriter, born in 1958. He began his career in the new wave band Japan , which rose to popularity in the 1970s and 1980s. After the band's disbandment Sylvian successfully pursued a solo career, experimenting with genres such as progressive rock, jazz, electronic music, and ambient. His work has influenced artists such as Duran Duran and Porcupine Tree . David Sylvian made a significant contribution to the development of alternative and pop music, becoming one of the key figures of the 1980s music scene.
