Давид Ойстрах (full name: Давид Фишелевич Ойстрах ) was a Soviet violinist, violist, conductor, and teacher, born September 30, 1908, in Odessa (now Ukraine). He is considered one of the greatest musicians of the 20th century. Ойстрах was a People's Artist of the USSR and a laureate of the Lenin and Stalin Prizes of the first degree. His career spanned performances with the world's leading orchestras and teaching at the Moscow Conservatory. Among his most famous recordings are violin concertos Бетховена , Чайковского , and Шостаковича . Давид Ойстрах made an enormous contribution to the development of classical music, leaving behind a rich legacy as a performer and teacher.
