
Clarence Williams was an American jazz pianist, composer, promoter, vocalist, theater producer, and publisher. Born on October 8, 1898, in the United States, his career spanned several decades, during which he collaborated with such prominent musicians as Louis Armstrong and Bessie Smith . Williams was also known as the author of numerous popular jazz compositions, including "Baby Won't You Please Come Home" In addition to his musical work, he was active in publishing, helping to spread jazz as a genre. His contributions to the development of jazz and popular music remain significant to this day.
