She gained brief popularity in 1993 with her debut album, Born Gangstaz , which included tracks such as "Deeper" and "Recipe of a Hoe" The album was released on Def Jam West and received acclaim for its gritty style and social themes. Despite her short career, Boss contributed to the development of female gangsta rap, becoming one of the first artists in the genre.
