Andrew Gold (1951–2011) was an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and music producer from the United States. Known for shaping the Los Angeles pop and soft rock sound of the 1970s, he contributed to numerous records, especially for Linda Ronstadt. Gold achieved solo success with hits like "Lonely Boy" and "Thank You for Being a Friend", both of which reached the U.S. Top 40. His song "Never Let Her Slip Away" became a Top 5 hit in the UK. In the 1980s, he found further international chart success as part of Wax, collaborating with Graham Gouldman of 10cc. Gold's work left a lasting mark on pop and rock music.
