in der schule hat man uns gesagt,

wir sollen immer lernen,

sonst kriegen wir den abschluß nicht

und können nie was werden.

doch ich hab' mir schon damals gedacht,

wozu soll ich mich plagen,

hier ist doch eh bald feierabend

in ein paar tagen.

keine zukunft für dich und mich,

keine hoffnung und keine aussicht,

keine zukunft für dich und mich,

wir sind dem tod geweiht — ohoho

wenn die russen durchdreh’n,

dann seh’n die amis rot

und einer drückt den roten knopf

und hier herrscht der atomtod!

umweltzerstörung, akws,

wo soll das nur enden?

menschen machen sich selbst kaputt,

das blatt wird sich nicht wenden…

But even then I thought

why should I bother

it's almost the end of the day here anyway

in a few days.

when the Russians go nuts

then the Americans see red

and someone presses the red button

and here nuclear death reigns!

environmental destruction, nuclear power plants,

where is this supposed to end?

people destroy themselves

the tide will not turn...
