A piece of myself falls away

It’s fitting I guess

Since it was about this time last year I started waking up without you

And even though every day gets easier

I can feel you trying to claw your way back in

But I am more

And I have grown to know myself

But I have also grown to know you

It still kills me to know that you never changed

It wasn’t that I needed you

It’s just that fact that even if I wanted to

I wouldn’t know where to start looking

For the thoughts I never kept

And for the memories I left

It’s been so long

That I’ve been searching for a way home

Will you tell me why you were here in the first place

From all the fear
