Tourist Trap - White Rabbits

I had a dream that we left here

To get on to the bus upstate

Spent all the money soon as we left

Slept in an old matinee

Stayed in a town where they knew us

And laid on the grass in the square

Got ourselves lost in the country one day

Nobody knew we were there

Burnt cigarettes in the air

We watched them fall

And we let ourselves get carried away

That was the end of a long holiday

I had a dream that we went back home

Nobody knew we were gone

Ran off again when they all went to bed

on the lawn

World went by outside the window

You rested your head in my lap

I saw a lighthouse across the great lake

Read in an old paperback

Ain’t it a treat, tourist trap

It’s not the same

And we let ourselves get carried away

That was the end of a long holiday

I woke up miles away

And I’d send them a postcard

But all of our friends came along for the ride
