Генри забрался фашистам в тыл

И попал в партизанский отряд

В прошлом — тусовщик, поэт, журналист,

А теперь просто солдат

Генри принёс динамита мешок

И железом бренчащий приказ:

Этот мост с этих пор

Стал полезен для них

И крайне опасен для нас

А люди в отряде — праведный сброд

И в глиняных мисках вино

Генри знал о них всё и больше, чем всё

И что их небо — там же, где дно,

Но эти глаза цвета первой звезды

В пальцах тонких грубого хлеба кусок

И суровый Пабло, глядя на них

Мрачно, но мудро изрёк:

Ешь с ним, пей с ним

Спи с ним, умирай с ним

Делай всё, как делают все

В его далёкой стране, непонятной стране

Осенью ранней ночь холодна

И иней на стали стволов,

Но откуда им знать, их чаша — без дна

Море жаркое — без берегов

От тепла их тел оживала трава

И таяли души камней,

Но не петь, ни рыдать не умеет Судьба

Что забавного в играх людей?

А люди с утра, продирая глаза

Хватались за автомат

И учил воевать крестьян и цыган

Юный янки — пришелец и брат

Он знал, что любовь погибает от ран

Она знала любовь — страх и боль,

Но кошмарные мороки прошлого — прочь

То же слово, другая любовь

Ешь с ним, пей с ним

Спи с ним, умирай с ним

Делай всё, как делают все

В его далёкой стране, непонятной стране

Коротка перед боем последняя ночь

Два чужих и родных языка

Друг друга путали сами с собой

Наполняя кровью слова

Кто не верил в успех, ушёл до зари

И забрал своих лошадей

Матерясь им вслед и стволы навострив

Остальные — дорогой своей

Приказ был исполнен.

Враги не прошли

Где был мост, стала дырка в земле

Земля примет всё, и в неё же легли

Кроме Пабло и девушки, все

Генри лежал, в небеса устремив

Переставшие видеть глаза,

А старик, поглядев на неё, пожалел

О том, что когда-то сказал

Ешь с ним, пей с ним

Спи с ним, умирай с ним

Делай всё, как делают все

She knew love - fear and pain,

But the nightmare troubles of the past are gone

Short before the fight last night

Two foreign and native languages

They confused each other with themselves

Bleeding words

Who did not believe in success, left before dawn

And took his horses

Cursing after them and sharpening their trunks

Enemies didn't pass

Where there was a bridge, there is a hole in the ground

The earth will accept everything, and they lay down in it

Henry lay with his eyes on the sky

Eyes that have stopped seeing

And the old man, looking at her, regretted
