Es stimmt uns unendlich traurig

Daß die Dinge die uns einmal

Fast schon fröstelnd machten vor Glückseligkeit

Uns schon nach kurzer Zeit

Nur kaum mehr noch berühren

Selbst dann noch wenn wir spüren

Daß wir letztlich danach jagen

Immer wieder «Ja» zu sagen

Eben weil wir darum wissen

Daß wir schnell genug vermissen

Was uns damals wichtig war

Und es wird uns klar

Wir kommen um vor Freude

Auf eine Geschichte

Die uns nicht viel bedeutet

Die gar nichts anderes will

Als unseren Durst zu stillen

Und die uns deshalb zwingt

Und innerlich notwendig

Letztlich ja unendlich

Langweilt und verständlich macht

Daß alles gut ist wie es ist (3x)

Daß dieser Stumpfsinn heilsam ist

Us after a short time

Barely touch anymore

Saying «yes» over and over again

Just because we know about it

What was important to us back then

Which doesn't mean much to us

Who wants nothing else

Than to quench our thirst

And which therefore compels us

And internally necessary

Ultimately yes, infinitely

Boring and understandable

That everything is fine as it is (3x)
