Should I have known from the beginning

This day would not be an ordinary one?

Sure there’s been danger, lots of running

But things have gone too far

And now it seems my time is done

Punch the clock and start the countdown

Cells ignite

Blinding light

Who’ll be left when I am done?

Oh, that is all part of the fun

Think of it as a change of wardrobe

Though the outcome I cannot foretell

A whole new set of quirks and customs

What I may pin on my lapel

Every era has its ending

But time rolls on, and so much I

No, don’t cry

While there’s life

There is something new to see

Right now that something new is me

I who am about to die salute you

You were fantastic and so was I

It’s an end

But it’s not the end

It’s the process that allows me
