Fingers on strings,

Lips on the reed,

We will draw back the night,

Curtains of silence,

Silence and stillness,

As we open our eyes.

Melting away Shadows of dark

From the tips of our tongues.

Awake, muted voice!

Awake, harp and lyre!

We will awaken the dawn.

Though the night has stretched His hand to us,

And says, Stay, Stay.

Drink the wine of yesterday.

You’re used to your tears.

The dark is familiar.

Though the night would say

Stay here.
