He stayed to see the end of an era come around

While the road to the north filled with people getting out

And he mistook the dawn for the sun as it was going down

He had a song in his heart like the joy of spring

And he felt like he could have tackled anything

And he was sure in his mind that his great design

Was gonna stand the world upon its head with admiration

It was

A monumental failure

Everyone was saying, «Well I told you.»

After all he’s nothing but a dreamer

Who never should have tried achieving anything else

I saw him before he was hidden in a shroud

Before all his dreams had come crashing to the ground

And I hear by rapport it would break your heart to see him now

Well he cracked like a bell and he turned to drink

Just a dull thud in place of a crystal ring

And the smile on his face

Still has not been traced

It hit the road the day before the final performance

It was
