Sat amongst the clutter on the tabletop

The sky is painted hazy grey and lazy blue

Ain’t nothing better than this to do

My friend in the next room, color his thumb green

Keeping it alive (if you know what I mean)

Oh and my girl, she working hard yes she be

Everybody doing their best just to make ends meet

The telephone is ringing someone’s at the door

6:48 this time of year is dark
