Nede ved kystens øde egne ligger snekken bi,

Fjordens odder skjuler skibet med det sorte sejl,

Vagten står I stævnen og spejder ud til havets rand,

Venter på en ensom kogge, fyldt med sydlandks guld.

Ude på havet sejler et skib, tynget af sit læs,

Lydløst og med lynets hast, sejler snekken frem,

Hvæsset klinge så blanke som sølver spejler solens lys,

Havet farvs rødt med blod,

Fredelige sømænd slagtes for deres guld.

Silently and at lightning speed, the worm sails forward,

Sharp blade as shiny as silver reflects the light of the sun,

The sea is colored red with blood,

Peaceful sailors are slaughtered for their gold.
