Я привык бродить один

И глядеть в чужие окна.

В суете немых картин

Отражаться в мокрых стёклах.

Мне хотелось бы узнать

Что вас ждёт и что тревожит,

Ваши сны.

Но вот опять

Приходит ночь, и день напрасно прожит…

Мы устали от потерь,

А находим слишком редко.

Мы скитались, а теперь

Мы живём в хрустальных клетках.

И теперь чужая радость

Не осушит наших слёз.

И нам осталось только ждать.

Какая малость!

Ждать того, кто не придёт…

Трудно ждать, почти не веря.

Всё стерпеть ещё труднее.

Зажгите свет, откройте двери!

Быть может, мы ещё успеем,

Быть может, мы ещё услышим

Грохот льдин в реке —

И я из дома вышел.

И увидел — я один,

И только снег на крышах…

И я бежал из ледяного плена:

Мне было мало на земле тепла.

И мне казалось — я солдат вселенной

В мировой войне добра и зла.

И грянул бой на целый белый свет

И через миг земля очнулась ото сна.

А наяву, как всегда,

То зима, а то весна…

Turn on the lights, open the doors!

The roar of ice floes in the river -

And I left the house.

And I saw - I am alone,

And only snow on the roofs...

And I escaped from the ice captivity:

I had little warmth on earth.

And it seemed to me - I am a soldier of the universe

In the world war of good and evil.

And the battle broke out in the whole wide world

And in a moment the earth woke up from sleep.

And in reality, as always,

Either winter or spring...
