She never knew of the dream

Born and raised in the factory

The same place her mother worked until her last breath

She dreams of a future, while she works for penny’s on the dollar

And one day she too will die her mothers death

Still she holds on to her aspirations as if they were her saving grace

Yet Deep down she knows she’ll never have the opportunity to leave this place

Behind every product we consume there is a face

Behind her eyes lie immeasurable pain

Her life amounts to nothing but the corporations gain

She is the face of injustice

The result of a glutinous free market

Just a disposable mechanism of the machine

And at the age of 16

She forsakes her god

She forsakes her life

She forsakes her dreams

Innocence lost

And found dead on the streets

I’ll be the voice for those who cannot speak

She is the least of these
