She walks on rose pavement streets, and gives her smile to me

And it eats away at my soul

And I walk my asphalt walk, kindly return the smile

And continue down the road

I follow her home this night, but never does she see

The shadows that are me

And so Ive done for months, grown what I could call love

And I almost know her completely

She cries to sleep nightly, the echoes call to me

As she sits in her darkened room with nothing to believe

She tells me her secrets but never comes totally clean

And weve spoken once or twice, and I see it in her eyes

A place to run when Im in pain

And I wake in the middle of night as tears flow from my eyes

Screaming her beautiful name
