Как-то ехал я перед Рождеством

Погонял коня гужевым хлыстом

На моём пути тёмный лес стоит

Кто-то в том лесу воет и кричит

Ехал к милой в лёт за 15 вёрст

А вокруг метёт, только видно хвост

Моего коня масти вороной

Жди, любимая, свижусь я с тобой

Но вдруг слышу вой, конь мой дал галоп

Ах ты, Боже мой, чуть не пал в сугроб

Я обрез достал из тулупа свой

И коню кричал: «Выручай, родной!»

А нечистые за мной мчались так

Что стал креститься я, пронзил душу страх

Наугад палю из обреза я

Эх бы пули мне да серебряные!
