I still recall certain road signs

Remember clear as day making beelines

City to city as on time

As a pair of vagabonds could be

A one track mind thinking about destiny

If it wasn’t clear, well it was gonna be

With so much color (n.) on the inside

Made it hard to stay between thin lines

Station to station

And disguised like a hometown celebrity

But you were making plans

And you were realistic

Still you chose to bet on me

So if we take this chance

We might compose a story

Don’t call this happenstance

You know what this has become

and what it’s supposed to be

Fact, fiction and fantasy

I found it strange that the device

The sudden urge, the charm, and the entice

That it would no longer suffice

And a change was springing up in me

If we are trying hard to be realistic

Slide on over closer next to me

So glad we took that chance

We’ve written quite the story

Not close to happenstance

You know what this has become and what it’s gonna be

Look at how far we’ve come

Flip through these countless pages

I’m down if you’re the one

And this is as real as real could ever be
