Far away not long ago

When the chuch bells rang and life moved slow

People prayed for hope they prayed for rain

A woman she stood tall and proud with a heavy walk

Voice so loud her

Body aching she ignored the pain

Like she did the years before

Right outside her farmhouse door

Lite a match to burn it all again

The wind it blowed it didn’t stop

The flame kept burning beyond the crop

It was rutless, took all it could claim

Wild fire she danced the night away

Took her by the hand there was nothing she could say

Wild fire brought her to her knees

When the dust finally settled there was nothing but the breeze

Tears ran down her somber face

All the things she can’t replace

Answered prayers never brought the rain

Boy had yet become a man

She hoped one day he’d take the land

Black burnt soil is what remained

She looked upon her tragedies

Field of ashes wrigly leafless trees

Empire crumbled down to ruins

In her heart she held a blame

Never saw herself the same

Wouldn’t answer to her name
