I remember busy mornings

Work, wife and kids in school

It could be so hectic

And yet so wonderful

So much effort was spent

Going through the motions of life

Buried in such focus

It’s hard to enjoy the ride

All too soon you realize

You’ll never get it back

We were building a castle

On the shore, in the sand

Always knowing that lapping waves

Would never let it stand

I have few regrets

Despite the tears in my eyes

I’ll learn to live with it
