2. So, jetzt ist es passiert, dacht’ich mir, jetzt ist alles aus,

nicht einmal eine Vier in Religion.

Oh Mann, mit diesem Zeugnis kommst du besser nicht nach Haus, sondern

allenfalls zur Fremdenlegion.

Ich zeigt’es meinen Eltern nicht und unterschrieb für sie, schön bunt,

sah nicht schlecht aus, ohne zu prahl’n.

Ich war vielleicht 'ne Niete in Deutsch und Biologie, dafür konnt’ich schon

immer ganz gut mal’n!

3. Der Zauber kam natürlich schon am nächsten Morgen raus, die Fälschung war

wohl doch nicht so geschickt.

Der Rektor kam, holte mich schnaubend aus der Klasse raus, so stand ich da,

allein, stumm und geknickt.

Dann ließ er meine Eltern kommen, lehnte sich zurück, voll Selbstgerechtigkeit

genoß er schon

die Maulschellen für den Betrüger, das mißrat'ne Stück, diesen Urkundenfälscher,

ihren Sohn.

4. Mein Vater nahm das Zeugnis in die Hand und sah mich anund sagte ruhig:

Was mich anbetrifft,

so gibt es nicht die kleinste Spur eines Zweifels daran, das ist tatsächlich

meine Unterschrift.

Auch meine Mutter sagte, ja, das sei ihr Namenszug.

Gekritzelt zwar,

doch müsse man verstehn,

daß sie vorher zwei große, schwere Einkaufstaschen trug.

Dann sagte sie: Komm,

Junge, laß uns gehn.

5. Ich hab noch manches lange Jahr auf Schulbänken verlor’nund lernte

widerspruchslos vor mich hin,

Namen, Tabellen, Theorien von hinten und von vorn, daß ich dabei nicht ganz

verblödet bin!

Nur eine Lektion hat sich in den Jahr’n herausgesiebt, die eine nur aus dem

Haufen Ballast:

Wie gut es tut zu wissen, daß dir jemand Zuflucht gibt, ganz gleich,

was du auch ausgefressen hast!

6. Ich weiß nicht, ob es rechtens war, daß meine Eltern michda rausholten und —

wo bleibt die Moral?

Die Schlauen diskutier’n, die Besserwisser streiten sich, ich weiß es nicht,

es ist mir auch egal.

Ich weiß nur eins, ich wünsche allen Kindern auf der Welt, und nicht zuletzt

natürlich dir, mein Kind,

wenn’s brenzlig wird, wenn’s schiefgeht, wenn die Welt zusammenfällt, Eltern,

die aus diesem Holze sind,

Eltern, die aus diesem Holz geschnitten sind.

2. So, now it happened, I thought to myself, now everything is over,

not even a D in religion.

Oh man, you better not come home with that testimony, you better

possibly to the Foreign Legion.

I didn't show it to my parents and signed for them, pretty colorful,

didn't look bad without bragging.

I was maybe a sucker at German and biology, I could do that

always a good time!

3. The spell came out the next morning, of course, which was fake

probably not so clever after all.

The principal came, took me out of the class with a snort, so I stood there,

alone, mute and broken.

Then he summoned my parents, sat back, full of self-righteousness

he already enjoyed

the shackles for the fraudster, the failed piece, this forger of documents,

her son.

4. My father took the testimony and looked at me and said calmly:

as for me

so there isn't the slightest shred of a doubt, that actually is

my signature.

My mother also said yes, that was her name.

scribbled though,

but one must understand

that before she was carrying two large, heavy shopping bags.

Then she said: come,

boy let's go

5. I still lost and learned many a long year on school desks

in front of me without objection,

Names, tables, theories from the back and from the front that I can't quite

am stupid!

Only one lesson has sifted out over the years, one only from that

heap of ballast:

How good it is to know that someone will give you refuge no matter what

what you've eaten up too!

6. I don't know if it was legal for my parents to take me out of there and—

where is the morale?

The clever ones discuss, the know-it-alls argue, I don't know

I don't care either.

I only know one thing, I wish all children in the world, and not least

of course you, my child,

when things get tricky, when things go wrong, when the world falls apart, parents,

that are of this wood
