Wie jeden Morgen war er pünktlich dran,

Seine Kollegen sahn ihn fragend an-

«Sag mal, hast du noch nicht gesehn.

was in der Zeitung steht?

Er schloß die Türe hinter sich,

Hängte Hut und Mantel in den Schrank, fein säuberlich,

Setzte sich.

«na, wolln wir erst mal sehn, was in der Zeitung steht!»

Und da stand es fett auf Seite zwei,

«Finanzskandal!"sein Bild dabei

Und die Schlagzeile: «Wie lang das wohl so weitergeht?!»

Er las den Text, und ihm war sofort klar:

Eine Verwechslung, nein, da war kein Wort’von wahr,

Aber, wie kann etwas erlogen sein.

Er starrte auf das Blatt, das vor ihm lag,

Es traf ihn wie ein heimtückischer Schlag,

Wie ist es möglich, daß so etwas in der Zeitung steht?

Das Zimmer ringsherum begann sich zu drehn,

Die Zeilen konnte er nur noch verschwommen sehn,

Wie wehrt man sich nur gegen das, was in der Zeitung steht?

Die Kollegen sagten, «Stell dich einfach stur!»

Er taumelte zu seinem Chef, über den Flur

«Aber, selbstverständlich, daß jeder hier zu Ihnen steht!

Er holte Hut und Mantel, wankte aus dem Raum,

Nein, das war Wirklichkeit, das war kein böser Traum,

Er rief den Fahrstuhl, stieg ein und gleich wieder aus,

Nein, er ging doch wohl besser durch das Treppenhaus,

Er war zu Fuß, der Pförtner würde ihn nicht sehn,

Der wußte immer ganz genau, was in der Zeitung steht.

Er stolperte die Wagenauffahrt rauf,

Sah den Rücken des Pförtners.

Solange würden sie es vielleicht nicht erfahr’n,

Aber irgendwer hat ihnen längst erzählt, was in der Zeitung steht.

Er wich den Leuten auf dem Bahnsteig aus, ihm schien

Die Blicke aller richteten sich nur auf ihn,

Der Mann im Kiosk da, der wußte Wort fur Wort, was in der Zeitung steht.

Wie eine Welle war’s, die über ihm zusammenschlug,

Wie die Erlösung kam der Vorortzug!

Du wirst nie mehr ganz frei.
