Die Mauern Meiner Zeit - Reinhard Mey

Erinn’rungen verblassen, und des Tages Ruhm vergeht,

Die Spuren, die wir heute zieh’n, sind morgen schon verweht.

Doch in uns ist die Sehnsucht, da etwas von uns bleibt,

Ein Fuabdruck am Ufer, eh' der Strom uns weitertreibt.

Nur ein Graffiti, das sich von der grauen Wand abhebt,

So wie ein Schrei, der sagen will: «Schaut her, ich hab' gelebt!»

So nehm' ich, was an Mut mir bleibt, und in der Dunkelheit

Sprhe ich das Wort «Hoffnung» auf die Mauern meiner Zeit.

Die Herzen sind verschlossen, die Blicke leer und katt.

Brderlichkeit kapituliet vor Zwietracht und Gewalt,

Und da ist so viel Not und Sorge gleich vor unsrer Tr,

Und wenn wir ein Kind lcheln sehn, so weinen zehn dafr.

Der Himmel hat sich abgewandt, die Zuversicht versiegt.

Manchmal ist’s, als ob alle Last auf meinen Schultern liegt.

Doch tief aus meiner Ohnmacht und aus meiner Traurigkeit

Sprhe ich das Wort «Hoffnung» auf die Mauern meiner Zeit.

Um uns regiert der Wahnsinn, und um uns steigt die Flut.

Die Welt geht aus den Fugen, und ich rede noch von Mut.

Wir irren in der Finsternis, und doch ist da ein Licht,

Ein Widerschein von Menschlichkeit, ich berseh' ihn nicht.

Und wenn auf meinem Stein sich frech das Unkraut wiegt im Wind,

Die Worte «Ewig unvergessen» berwuchert sind,

Bleibt zwischen den Parolen von Ha und Bitterkeit

Vielleicht auch das Wort «Hoffnung» auf den Mauern jener Zeit.

Memories fade and the glory of the day fades

The traces we make today will be gone tomorrow.

But in us is the longing that something of us remains,

A footprint on the shore before the current carries us on.

Just a graffiti contrasting against the gray wall

Like a scream that wants to say: "Look, I've lived!"

So I take what courage I have left, and in the dark

I spray the word "hope" on the walls of my time.

The hearts are closed, the looks empty and katt.

Fraternity surrenders to discord and violence,

And there is so much need and worry right in front of our door,

And when we see a child smile, ten cry for it.

The sky has turned away, confidence has dried up.

Sometimes it's as if all the burden is on my shoulders.

But deep out of my powerlessness and out of my sadness

I spray the word "hope" on the walls of my time.

Madness reigns around us, and the tide rises around us.

The world is falling apart and I'm still talking about courage.

We err in darkness, and yet there is a light

A reflection of humanity, I can't overlook it.

And when the weeds sway cheekily in the wind on my stone,

The words "forever forgotten" are overgrown,

Stay between the slogans of hate and bitterness

Perhaps also the word "Hope" on the walls of that time.
