Es ist Zeit, dass ich mir ein paar neue Freunde mach'

Und da dacht' ich mir: Erzähl' mal was von deinem Fach

Also bitte, werfen wir zusammen einen Blick hinter die Kulissen

Auf das schönste Beispiel, das man in der ganzen Branche kennt

Auf den legendären Manager Carlo di Vidend

Dessen finanzielle Lage war — mit einem Wort gesagt — sehr kritisch

Aber grad', als er sich ganz und gar am Ende sah

War die Rettung und ein güt'ges Schicksal schon so nah

Und dies Schicksal zeigte sich in Form des «Vorher"-Foto-Modells Detlef Kläglich

Der stand neben ihm zufällig auf dem Bahnhofsklo

Und er trällerte «Es fährt ein Zug nach irgendwo»

Da war er auch schon entdeckt, so ist das Leben.

In diesem Job ist das

«Deine Stimme ist ja ungeheuer fotogen

Sapperlot!

Dich bring' ich ganz groß raus im Buntfernsehn»

Und dann fügte er hinzu, weil Detlef offensichtlich nichts verstanden hatte:

«Mir kommt’s nicht so auf das Intellektuelle an

Mir reicht’s, wenn ein Sänger seinen Namen schreiben kann!»

Und das konnte Detlef grad' man so und unterschrieb für seine erste Platte

Nun begann an ihm die mühevolle Kleinarbeit

Erstmal bastelte man ihm eine Persönlichkeit

Richtete ihm seine Nase, stützte ihm den Bauch und glättete die Ohren

Man teilte ihm eine neue, eig’ne Meinung zu

Machte aus dem Namen Detlef Kläglich: Daddy Blue

Es war noch kein Ton gesungen, aber schon stand fest, da war ein Star geboren!

Die Musikaufnahmen gingen nicht so flott von der Hand

Obwohl Daddy keinerlei Bildung im Wege stand

Und die geistige Ebene seines Schlagers seiner glich, drohte die Katastrophe

Zwar war ihm, und das ist in diesem Job schon allerhand

Der Unterschied zwischen Noten und Fliegendreck bekannt

Doch trotz allem, nach zwei Wochen übte er noch immer an der 1. Strophe

Aber Gott sei Dank ist das ja nun nicht etwa so

Dass ein Sänger auch noch singen können muss, denn wo

Wär'n die Tänzer und die Boxer und die Schauspieler, die glauben,

dass sie singen

Nein, der Daddy traf den Ton ab und zu mit viel Glück

Daraus schusterte der Toningenieur Stück für Stück

Daddy’s erste Single «Kopf hoch Baby, los, komm Boogie, die Bouzukis klingen»

Nun, der Text des Schlagers war die Art Lyrik, die man

Auch als Vollidiot noch mühelos erfassen kann

Dafür hieß es in der Werbung «Aus dem Text lässt sich manch' Denkanstoß

erfahren.»

Die Musik lag zwischen Schuhplattler und Rock’n Roll

Was zum Mitklatschen natürlich, aber anspruchsvoll!

Kurz und gut, ein Stück Musik für Leute, die ihr Hirn im Tanzbein aufbewahren

Bei so vielen guten Zutaten ist jedem klar

Dass die Nummer bald in allen Hitparaden war

Und dass auch ein bisschen Schiebung mithalf, ist natürlich böswillig erfunden

Dank sei nur Daddy’s Talent, hob man gekränkt hervor

Und die ganze Presse jubelte ihn hoch im Chor

Und das Fernsehen gab ihm gleich die Samstagsabendshow von knapp zwei Stunden

Daddy hüpfte durch die Show, denn wenn man Dünnes singt

Tut man gut dran, wenn man ab und zu die Hüften schwingt

Und dann sang er auch noch «Yesterday», um seine Vielseitigkeit zu beweisen

Seine Show errang beim Festival in Papendiek

Prompt die «Goldne Offne Hand» der Fernsehkritik

Und eine Expertenjury krönte Daddy Blue mit zwei Schallplattenpreisen

Aber über alle Preise hatte man zuletzt

Uns, das dumme Publikum, ganz einfach unterschätzt

Das sich doch hartnäckig weigerte, «Los, Kopf hoch, Baby» käuflich zu erwerben

Denn einmal fühlt auch der letzte Trottel sich verkohlt

Daraufhin hat man die Show noch zweimal wiederholt

Und als es immer noch nicht klappen wollte, ließ man Daddy Blue ganz leise

sterben

Der Manager macht längst neues Talent, neues Glück

Detlef Kläglich findet schwer zur Wirklichkeit zurück

Und er tastet sich ganz langsam aus dem Scheinwerferlicht wieder in den Schatten

Und das Showgeschäft hat Detlef Kläglich gründlich satt

Er hat jetzt 'nen Job als Journalist beim Tageblatt

Als Musikkritiker, da schreibt er über Konzerte und neue Platten

He was given a new opinion of his own

Turned the name Detlef miserably into: Daddy Blue

No note had yet been sung, but it was already clear that a star had been born!

And the mental level of his hit was like his, the catastrophe threatened

And the fact that a bit of pushing helped was a malicious invention, of course

Thanks only to Daddy's talent, they pointed out, offended

And the whole press cheered him up in chorus

And television gave him the Saturday night show of just under two hours straight away
