Was, jetzt schon?

Hab' ich nicht grade eben noch

Durch ein gemeines Taschenloch

Meinen Einkaufsgroschen verloren?

Hab' ich nicht eben noch ganz sacht

Wieder 'ne Fünf nach Haus' gebracht

In einem Heft voll Eselsohren?

Die große Liebe gestern war’s

Unter den Augen all der Stars

An den Wänden in meinem Zimmer!

Die Taschen leer und der Kopf voll

Mädchen und Songs und Rock 'n Roll

Und wir dachten, das ist für immer

50?

Ja, wohl schon —

Und ein Kopf kleiner als mein Sohn!

Was, jetzt schon?

Splittert jetzt hier und da der Lack

Bin ich jetzt auch so’n alter Sack

Zu dem ich und meine Gefährten

Jeden, der über zwanzig war

Gnadenlos stempelten und gar

Zum Zausel und scheintot erklärten?

Rieselt in meinem Hirn der Kalk

Hat aus dem Nacken sich der Schalk

Verkrümelt?

Frag' ich mich beklommen

Hat meine Jugend über Nacht

Sich leise aus dem Staub gemacht

Und ich hab’s gar nicht mitbekommen?

50?

Ja, wohl schon —

Die reifere Generation!

50?

Was, Jetzt schon?

Nun, auch ein großer Optimist

Weiß, daß dies nicht die Halbzeit ist

So schnell ging das!

Denk' ich verwundert

Und manchmal schmunzel ich in mich rein:

Wie kann man noch so’n Kindskopf sein

Wie ich mit dem halben Jahrhundert!

Doch ob man alt ist oder nicht

Steht nicht auf Hintern und Gesicht

Und deren Falten mit den Jahren

Mancher ist schon als Kind senil

Und junge Greise kenn' ich viel

Die längst schon mit Hut Auto fahren!

Ja, wohl schon —

Und immer noch Opposition!

Da ist so was wie Dankbarkeit

Mit einem Lächeln seh' ich weit

Im Zeitraffer über mein Leben:

Das ist o. k.

so, ja, ich denk'

Die gute Fee hat ein Geschenk

An meiner Wiege abgegeben

Na, herzliche Gratulation

I haven't just yet

Through a mean pocket hole

Lost my shopping bag?

Haven't I just been very careful?

Brought another five home

In a book full of dog-ears?

It was the great love yesterday

Under the eyes of all the stars

On the walls in my room!

Pockets empty and heads full

Girls and songs and rock 'n roll

And we thought this is forever

50?

Yes, probably already —

And a head shorter than my son!

50!

What already?

Now the paint is chipping here and there

Am I such an old bag now?

Also me and my companions

Anyone over twenty

Mercilessly stamped and even

Declared dizzy and apparently dead?

The lime trickles in my brain

The rogue has come out of the neck

crumbled?

I ask myself uneasily

Has my youth overnight

Quietly got out of the dust

And I didn't even notice?

50?

Yes, probably already —

The mature generation!

50?

What, now?

Well, also a big optimist

Know this isn't halftime

It was that fast!

I think surprised

And sometimes I smile to myself:

How can you still be such a child's head

Like me with half a century!

But whether you're old or not

Don't stand on your butt and face

And their wrinkles over the years

Some are already senile as children

And I know a lot of young old people

Who have long been driving with a hat!

And still opposition!

There is such a thing as gratitude

I can see far with a smile

In time lapse about my life:

That's OK.

The fairy godmother has a present

Delivered to my cradle
