the road is rocky and goes on

for so many miles

but she’ll be back before the dawn

to turn up that dial

trickle down the slab of stone

the wheels they don’t stop turning

until they blow out

she’s volatile

and that’s all you want

right now

so maybe she knew better then

before she was mine

at least i know it’s not pretend

she’s real by design

trying hard to make amends for the fire

we must tread lightly on the ground
