Die Boote der Jugend - Puhdys

Es gibt manche Leute, die haben vergessen,

Dass sie einst im Boot der Jugend gesessen.

Indem sie fuhren gegen die Flut

Mit Segeln aus Jeans und Rock’n Roll im Blut.

Heut liegen sie an Stegen mit Toleranz

Betrachten die Boote aus sichrer Distanz.

Und zeigen veraechtlich mit Fingern auf sie

Verkuenden, die Jugend sei verdorben wie nie.

Noch vor ein paar Jahren

Als sie selber jung waren

Sie die Freiheit sich nahmen

Anders zu sein

Doch das gleich Recht raeumen sie

Der Jugend von heute leider nicht ein.

Einst war’n sie Rebell’n gegen Spiessigkeit.

Sie sprengten die Normen ihrer Zeit.

Sie hatten Ideale und auch manches Idol

Und ihren Habitus machten sie zum Symbol.

Noch vor ein paar Jahren

There are some people who have forgotten

That they once sat in the boat of youth.

By sailing against the tide

With sails made of jeans and rock'n roll in the blood.

Today they are on jetties with tolerance

Observe the boats from a safe distance.

And point fingers at them with contempt

Proclaiming that youth is more corrupt than ever.

Just a few years ago

When they were young themselves

You took your liberty

to be different

But they grant the same right

Unfortunately not for the youth of today.

They were once rebels against bourgeoisie.

They broke the norms of their time.

They had ideals and also some idols

And they turned their habit into a symbol.
