We drive fast

over the mountains

and leave behind us

the desert that surrounds us

the sun is high above us

the clouds look down

upon us

my memory is weak

summer has left us

long ago without us

the place we used to sit

will always surround us

filled with flowers and birds

and people swimming

all around us
