Ich leuchte sichtbar,

doch ich brenne nicht,

ich geb nur ab vom Schein,

der auf mich fällt.

Ihr seht in mir, das Sonnenlicht,

ich bin ihr Spiegel, der die Nacht erhellt.

Die Sonnenuhr hat einen schnellen Gang,

der Stunden braucht, damit der Kreis sich schließt,

ich zeige euch vier Wochen an,

die Spanne die seit jeher Monat hieß.

Ich bin die Uhr der Welt, bin wie ein Ring,

der Monate zum Jahr zusammenhält,

ich dreh mich nicht und stehe doch nicht still,

ich sehe nicht, was ich nicht sehen will,

ich bin zum Greifen nah und doch so weit,

ich bin unendlich alt

seit jeher da,

ich mach die Zeit,

ich mach die Zeit.

Ich sehe mild aus und geheimnisvoll,

und habe Kräfte, die gewaltig sind,

Ebbe und Flut sind mein Arbeitssoll

Und gern sieht nachts mich ein jedes Kind,

ich leuchte stetig auch wenn man mich nicht sieht,

weil mal mit Wolken der Himmel sich bezieht,

bei Vollmond scheine ich mit ganzer Kraft,

bei Neumond bin ich etwas abgeschlafft.

because sometimes the sky relates to clouds,

at full moon I shine with all my strength,

at new moon I'm a bit flabby.
