El día que vallas al norte,

Vas a mirar unas cruces,

Varias con flores marchitas,

Cruces con nombres y fechas,

Otras solo el apellido,

Unas dicen en sus letras,

Fue un hombre desconocido,

Que se encontraba flotando,

Entre las aguas del rio,

Se apachurra el corazón,

Deberás que da tristeza,

No conocer ni quien son,

Pero tener la certeza,

Que nos perdió una ilusión,

Y los ahogo la pobreza,

(Hay cruces a ya en Tijuana,

Y también en matamoros,

En toda la guarda raya,

Hay miles de testimonios,

Y aquellos pobres paisanos,

Que en el intento quedaron,

Unos murieron de sed,

Otros murieron ahogados,

Y todo por la ilusión,

De cruzar al otro lado,

No es el desierto que mata,

Ni el agua que los ahoga,

Es la maldita pobreza,

Que al pobre que al pobre,

Jamás perdona)

Cuantas familias llorando,

Un día los vieron marcharse,
