Slipping - Paper Arms

Been reading through boxes of letters

And these early words made us seem

Like we couldn’t wait for the winter

To sweep through these dusty streets

Buckle up and hunker down

If we breathe deep we might not drown

We always knew these days would come

A little rain never hurt anyone

I’m slipping…

It’s getting cold tonight

And I can’t see a fire in sight

If this river breaks it’s banks

And carries me into the storm

I’ll ride on the back of it’s waves

Till it takes me somewhere warm
