Всё… Завершен ритуал погребальный,

В саван закутан мертвец бездыханный.

Потомком монета в его рот зашита —

То плата Харону за путь до Аида…

Страха не зная, ты сном вечным спишь,

Вдруг растревожилась мертвая тишь…

Слышится плеск — кто-то правит веслом,

Из Ниоткуда вдруг выплыл Харон…

Из-под балахона вдаль зрит пустота,

И духу мирская чужда суета…

Он — царь переправы, ладья — его трон…

Костлявой рукой правит в Тартар Харон…

Ты не увидишь вновь белого света —

За путь до Аида Харон взял монету…

Теперь твой чертог — царство мертвых теней

И бесконечность безжизненных дней…

Канувший в вене Аида, в Лете,

Ты позабудешь о жизни на свете,

И мертвое тело издаст слабый стон,

Но безучастен Великий Харон!

Костлявой рукой правит в Тартар Харон…

And the infinity of lifeless days...

Sunk in the vein of Hades, in Summer,

You will forget about life in the world,

And the dead body will let out a faint groan,

But Great Charon is indifferent!
