Ночью в лесу холодно-темно,

И горит впотьмах лишь мое окно.

Дабы сон сберечь от отродья зла,

Мне лучину жечь надо досветла,

Сея хладный свет во мрак,

Медленно горит луна,

Охраняя безмятежность сна.

В ярком свете дня все кругом светло.

Доброго зверья средь елей полно,

Но лишь гаснет свет, вострые клыки

Тьма оголяет, свет мой рвать в куски.

Оберег мой лишь огонь,

Ночью мрака тварь вольна,

Но к огню не подойдет она.
