Из тени, из каменной ночи

Явился, под вежливый стук.

Медленно, но без сомнений,

Очертил на полу белый круг

И, без лишних приготовлений,

Начал танец бесчисленных рук,

Где в каждом безумном движенье

Рождался неведомый звук —

«Не покидай меня!»

Не слова, не смеха, не крика.

Я впадал то в восторг, то в испуг.

Без плача, без вздоха, без шума,

Входил он в начертанный круг

И, как в шелк, обернув меня в трепет,

И вдруг, показав мне глаза,

Осыпал меня теплым пеплом

И вышел в просторную дверь.

Не покидай меня,

Даже если ты чистый бес!

Или бери с собой,

Или останься здесь.

Не покидай меня!

В распахнутых окнах под ветром

Метались ночные жуки.

И тяжесть их кованных крыльев

Тянуло меня за собой.

И я звал без надежды, без страха,

Но голос звучал, как чужой.

Я кричал словно черная птица

В одеждах покрытых золой.

Не покидай меня,

Даже если ты чистый бес!

Или бери с собой,

Или останься здесь.

From the shadow, from the stone night

Appeared, under a polite knock.

Slowly but without a doubt

Outlined a white circle on the floor

And, without further ado,

Started the dance of countless hands

Where in every crazy movement

An unknown sound was born -

"Do not leave me!"

Not a word, not a laugh, not a cry.

I fell into ecstasy, then into fright.

No cry, no breath, no noise,

He entered the inscribed circle

And, like in silk, wrapping me in awe,

And suddenly, showing me his eyes,

Showered me with warm ashes

And he went out through the spacious door.

Even if you are a pure demon!

In open windows in the wind

The night bugs darted about.

And the weight of their forged wings

It pulled me along.

And I called without hope, without fear,

But the voice sounded like someone else's.

I screamed like a black bird

In clothes covered with ashes.
