Here comes the storm I can tell

I can see the clouds form

Like I’ve seen them

So many times before

Knowing this

I know I’ll drown again

It’s the light of the city on

Before the darkness falls

That’s how I know the night is coming

It comes for me, that’s how I know

I didn’t ask to be put here

Am I just living in fear?

As the water surrounds my body

Am I left to drown in my tears?

I look up from the bottom

No feeling in my mind

Far away I can see

A light comforting white

How I wish I could reach it

Just lift my hands and grab on hold

Below, I’m just below

Am I just below and will I ever grow old?

I never asked to be put here

Am I just living in fear?

As the water surrounds my body

Am I left to drown in my tears?

Many years I’ve questioned

The innocence of a child

Trapped within a little world

They just scream, scream, scream

To get out…

He bangs his head against the surface hoping

Just hoping for a gasp of air
