In this shattered landscape paralysed with fear

There is no escape, you scream, nobody hears

Mind is frozen, full of dread, none can help you now

All around now lay the dead, no life can be found

Crawling through no man’s land across the mud and wire

Regrouped for one last stand, caught in the crossfire

Maxim burst, spitting forth a hail of certain death

Creating a hell on Earth, gasp at your last breath

You may live through this to fight another day

The horror of it all will never fade away

The pain that grows deep inside your mind

Inner tranquility you will never find

Lost all senses, far beyond control

This inner anguish eats away your soul

A living nightmare, all memory now blocked

You body shaking, a victim of shell shock

Awaiting in your prison cell, the time is drawing near

No chance for last farewells, lucidity unclear

The court martial has ordered you shall be shot at dawn

Tied to a stake, blindfolded, life now gone
