Il cieco fermo sul bordo del marciapiede

aspetta che qualcuno se ne accorga

rallenti la sua fretta.

E intanto resta immobile lo sguardo spento

e fisso come se fosse in bilico

su di un profondo abisso.

Il cieco fermo ascolta e sopra il viso

impassibile d’un tratto?

una smorfia

una pena invisibile.

Ma nessuna la vede nel bagliore della luce

e la smorfia lentamente

dentro il viso si ricuce.

Ed ecco all’improvviso s’arresta una ragazza

il cieco fa un sorriso e timido ringrazia.

Lei certamente?

bella lo sente dall’odore

nel buio s’accende una stella e un vento soffia in

cuore.

Lui cerca la sua mano lei se la fa trovare

e allora parte piano e li si lascia andare.

E saltano l’abisso senza precipitare

i due con lieve passo che sembra di volare!

Poi dolcemente atterrano sull’altro

marciapiede il cieco e la ragazza

dopo quel volo breve.

Lei dalla luce lancia un saluto luminoso!

Dal buio lui risponde timido e confuso.

Vorrebbe dirle aspetta angelo profumato

non te ne andare resta riposa il cuore il fiato.

Ma sente che la mano allenta la sua stretta

e nel buio si spegna la stella.

Vorrebbe dirle aspetta!

Ma c'?

troppa confusione

e l’odore s’allontana e il cieco col bastone

prosegue la sua strada buia dondolando un po'

felice per quel niente come un dolcissimo

The blind man standing on the curb

wait for someone to notice

slow down your haste.
