De eerste klas van school was geen succes

Met sommen had ik moeite en met lezen en dictee

Als iedereen een tien had, haalde ik een zes

En hoe ik ook m’n best deed, ik kwam gewoon niet mee

Ik werd dan ook verschrikkelijk gepest

En daarom zei m’n vader: «Lieverd, jij gaat op de LOM

Daar doen ze het wat rustiger, dan lukt het best»

Maar toen ik dat op school zei, lachte iedereen zich krom

Jij bent te lui dat je een antwoord op een som vindt

De meesten weten niks van LOM-school af

Je leert hier minstens evenveel als op de basisschool

Maar hier is het veel leuker en met minder straf

De meester speelt piano en onze juffrouw speelt viool

Ik kom in onze klas behoorlijk mee

Ik lees al net zo goed als alle kinderen van elf

Ik heb een acht voor rekenen, een negen voor dictee

En als ze willen schelden, nou, dan roep ik meestal zelf:

'Ik weet 't allang"

En wie me pesten wil is zelf een stom kind

Most know nothing about LOM school

You learn at least as much here as at primary school

But here it is much more fun and with less punishment

The master plays the piano and our miss plays the violin

I do pretty well in our class

I read just as well as all eleven-year-olds

I have an eight for math, a nine for dictation

And if they want to swear, well, then I usually shout myself:

"I already know"
