Факел живой по арене метнулся,

Бурая кровь пузырится в огне —

Помнишь, гадалка тебе говорила:

«От платья ты примешь верную смерть!»

Черный сюртук, пропитанный маслом,

Щетки и мыла не знавший давно.

Лень было чистить — ну, вот и расплата:

Огненный дьявол пришел за тобой!

Кожа факира пошла волдырями,

Вспыхнула, словно на гриле шашлык

Жарится мясо, живое с костями

В гуле огня потонул его крик!

Вот он выходит, и свечи погасли
