Kuu jo kylmeni

Peittivät harsot hehkuvan hopean

Heräsivät siivet hämärän

Korpit kaamoksen kolean

«Nurkui kansa nuorempainen

Sinne siirymme iläksi

Alle auringon paremman

Luokse luonnon lempeämmän

Armas on asua siellä

Lämmin maata Maan povella»

Näin tanssivat kuun lapset

Äyrähällä yön ikuisen

Varjoissa havupuiden katseen

Päällä sammettisten sammalten

Siirtyi sinne kaikki kansa

Tykö tyhjän luomakunnan

Alle ammoisten havujen

Päälle sammetisten sammalten

Olen ollut täällä ennenkin

Kaatveessa kadotuksen

Usvassa metsien routaisten

Nähnyt jäljet kuun heimojen
