Я глаз не мог закрыть, я думал, что же будет,

Если станут пить чуть больше наши люди,

И какой ущерб огромный понесет страна,

От этой водки и вина.

Рабочий у станка стоит на вахте гордо

Норма высока, его движенья тверды,

Но ни за что на свете он не дал бы план

Когда бы был рабочий пьян.

Колхозник хлеб убрал и был объявлен знатным

Он капли в рот не брал и трезвым был, понятно.

Не разобрал бы он, где плуг, где борона

Когда бы выпил он вина.

Писатель на посту стоит, не унывает,

Видит за версту и мысли выражает

Не смог быть столь глубоким быть его роман

Когда бы был писатель пьян.

И мы должны понять, что надо нам стремиться

К тому, чтоб твердо знать, когда остановиться,

А если понял, подставляй стакан.

Но только не напейся пьян.

And if you understand, substitute a glass.

But just don't get drunk drunk.
