Högst uppe under takets list, där bort jag

Och svalorna och duvorna, där vinden rister med plåtarna

Längst bort på sjön ser jag båtarna, och landstigna måsar på tuvorna

Dit for jag, om vingar jag hade så visst

Där borta går solen upp, det vet jag

Rätt över de blå skogarna som skyggar mot havet i öster

Där bort ifrån hör jag röster som muntra visor från logarna

Gläds jag i sinnet vid minnet av strandande hopp

Där bortom den blåa skog, vid havet, där låg min ungdom för länge sen

Därute vid friska fjärdarna var äro de drömda härdarna och vännerna som

Gått hädan?

Begravet det bästa som livet tog

Jag vill icke se dit ut i ditåt

Den drar mig tillbaks i sängen där ser jag alenast månen

Som brasans glöd ni förvånar ni skyar från solnedgången

Se hitåt här väntas också på dagens slut
