Pysäytin rekan kello kuusi

Astuin sisään tuttuun kahvilaan

Baarityttö tiskin takaa huusi:

«Istu pöytään, talo tarjoaa!»

Täällä monet muistot nousee mieleen

Joku kesken lauseen nukahtaa

Kuuma kahvi polttaa rakon kieleen

Levysoitin laulaa lauluaan

Kaataa sä voisit kupin lisää

Kahvi tää on paras päällä maan

Siitä aina muistan vanhaa isää

Hänkin ajoi rekkaa aikanaan

Huoltomies kun herätyksen antoi

Tähdet syttyi kaukaa loistamaan

Laulun sanat tuuli korvaan kantoi

Pohjoiseen mä lähdin ajamaan

Joskus meiltä joltain luomi hirttää

Päästään yläpihaan huilaamaan

Pappi silloin saarnaa vanhaa virttään

Seurakunta yhtyy laulamaan
