Zaklepu na branku s rezavou mříží

Pod okno zasadím slunečnice

Zavolám na Blanku, ať na mě shlíží

Z balkónu s kapradím do ulice

S měsícem platinovým vyznání pro ni teď zpívám

Že, až se setmí, polibkem setru veškeré slzy z tváře a ze rtů

To se přec nesmí, povídat větru, že asi brzy pošle mě k čertu

Zaujmu odvážně hrdinskou pózu

Mám přece v malíčku historii

A ježto převážně nerada prózu

Nesu jí v balíčku poezii

I knock on the gate with the rusty grate

I will plant sunflowers under the window

I call to Blanka to look down on me

From the fern balcony to the street

R: Under the leaves of the fig tree every evening I invoke her

With a month of platinum confessions, I sing for her now

That, when it's dark, I'll wipe away all the tears from my face and lips with a kiss

You mustn't tell the wind that it will probably send me to hell soon

I strike a boldly heroic pose

After all, I have history in my little finger

And she mostly dislikes prose

I carry poetry for her in a package
