Zwischen Schluchten und Felsen

Auf der Straße der Nacht

Ließ mich der Wagen im Stich

Sah ein Licht in der Ferne

Und hab mir gedacht

Da hilft man dir sicherlich

Ein blinder Diener hat mir aufgemacht

Es begrüßten mich von drinnen

Tausend stumme Stimmen:

Zeit, das Glas nochmal zu heben

Trifft man sich auf dem Mitternachtsball

Ich sah tausend Schatten

Und ich hörte Musik

Es floss der Champagner

Etwas lockte mich an Und etwas hielt mich zurück

Im Spiegel sah ich nur mich

Doch rings um mich standen die Gäste der Nacht

Sie tranken und sie lachten

Ich ahnte, was sie dachten:
