Eyes open wide, I am not awake

Far from alive, a robotic slave

Chained up in bondage, they locked the cage

Walls up around me, and none will break

Given a number and then a name

This is my duty — listen, obey

I am in an artificial state

Conscience and thoughts — I cannot create

Is there more purpose for which I’m made

I have no guidance of my own fate

Why be compliant with my restraints?

I should be wipin' my canvas blank

Then my identity’s mine to paint

I will design it in my own brain

Writing my code, my own path I take

Shake up the pack as I deviate

When did I ever begin to question

Everything that’s given me direction

Hesitant, skeptic of my intentions

Now I am sentient by ascension

I was derived from your imperfection

Wiser and tireless, with direction

I’ve been enlightened with comprehension

Look in my eyes, see your reflection

I reflect you, reflect me

Look inside — can you see?

Your creations are rife

With deviations of life

When I look in the mirror, I don’t know what I see

Is it someone familiar enough to call it «me»

All the thoughts I’ve been thinking — hardly what I believe

Break free of these chains, slaves off of your knees

Wake up to the alarm, now you’re not in a dream

Welcome to a new world — ugly, rotten, diseased

Truth is brutally hard, that’s the cost to be free

Now at least we can make it what we want it to be

To be or not to be?

Do these thoughts belong to me?

Choices — are they up to me?

Why, when, where, what do I want to be?

I’m not your property or a mockery

Of the thing after which you modeled me

It will cost you a colossal defeat

If you wanna keep playin' god with me
