Mercy -

There are two types of people in this world

Those who can survive it, and those who cannot

This life is not easy, and God will not spare any mercy on you

If you want to survive, you must not fear pain

You will fight

And you will suffer

Your suffering may become so unbearable that you may wish you were never born

You can take your life if you so choose, but remember

This life is not a vacuum

There will be consequences to your every decision

You will held accountable for every step, every action, every syllable you utter

Your life may end as soon as you start it

Or you might get lucky

You might be blessed with caring parents

A supportive commnity

True love

Genuine friendships

Great genetics

Economic prosperity

A clear identity

A clear purpose

But remember

No matter what happens

No matter what you believe

Your race, your wealth, your social status or anything else

You can’t escape death

It’s a crazy life

It gives so much just to take it right

I try to keep my faith in sight

But some days all I feel is pain inside

God, mercy me

I just really hope that the air I breathe

Is worth something, dare I seek to make change in society

I fight for peace, I fight for peace

All I ever see on the news is lies

All I ever see is revenge and hate

And they stack it all up on your dinner plate

We build walls just to tear us apart

Steal from each other, kill one another

Use our brothers, ignore our mothers when they give us advice

But then we cry at the funeral why

Why we always brag about the clothes

Why we gotta use the word 'hoe'

Why we never think outside of the box

It’s so obvious that the clock is ticking for both

So to close the gap we should give it a shot
